Washing
Wash your extensions as little as you can. Having extensions makes it easier to go in between washes, so 1-2x a week is perfect.
Only use sulfate and paraben free shampoo and professional hair products. Sulfates can strip the color from your extensions, cause dryness, tangling, and breakage.
Avoid overusing purple shampoo. Most formulas are drying and can strip the lowlight color from your extensions if overused, making them seem even more brassy.
Pro Tip:
I like to section my hair at the crown, flip my head over the bathtub, and just wash the top section of my natural hair when I'm feeling lazy!
Brushing + Styling
Brush your hair 2-3x per day to keep your extensions tangle free. Start at your ends and gently work your way up, being extra careful at the root of your wefts.
Never use over 350 degrees when using hot tools and always remember heat protectant. Without it, the wefts can become discolored, signed, dry and will shorten over time.
Blowdry your wefts, try to avoid air drying. When blowdrying, use a round brush or regular brush to smooth the hair. This helps keep the cuticle aligned and will prevent against tangling and matting. Our Hybrid Deluxe Wefts especially need this since they are more dense.
Sleeping
Avoid sleeping with wet hair, it can cause matting, tangling, frizz, and even mold.
Try to put your hair in a loose braid or ponytail when you sleep.
A silk pillowcase can ensure you wake up with smooth, picture perfect hair.
Pro Tip:
Try using a scrunchie instead of a hair tie at night to avoid a crease in your hair. That way you have less to touch up in the morning.
Lifestyle
Be careful with the sunscreens you use, most of them contain chemicals that will turn your extensions a peachy/orange color. Avoid Oxybenzone and Avobenzone and look for a mineral sunscreen.
When going to the beach, pool, lake, or any water activity, put your hair in braids. This will protect your hair from getting matted and tangled. We even recommending a leave in conditioner before swimming.
If you plan to workout, put your hair in lower styles like braids or a low pony. A high pony can be fine, but can also create extra tension, especially if you're running or jumping around.
